Looking Forward to a New Year

This year has been crazy and exciting and heart-wrenching for me. Return to Royalty was published, I created my own publishing company, I did a handful of book signings, made some new writer-friends, participated in some blog hops, went to some comic cons, and lost a dearly loved member of my family. This month I’ve been dealing with the loss of Daisy, while trying to prepare for the holidays and finish my writing projects. Unfortunately, the cancer finally got the better of

    Good News Everyone!

Lots of news updates, including a new book cover for The Heart of the Guardian and new services offered by Infinity Flower Publishing! Let's start with some cover art: A few months ago, I got The Heart of the Guardian back from Outskirts Press. There was nothing wrong with their services, I just wanted to do some editing and other things to THoG that I couldn't do without them charging me a fee. So I decided to cancel with them and republish myself. Here is the new cover art,

    The Time – Traveler’s Cat

Today I want to share with you guys an excerpt from The Time – Traveler’s Cat! We’re three days into NaNoWriMo and I’d have to say it’s going great! I’d love to hear your thoughts and how you’re doing so far! PROLOGUE The sky was black. Shadows danced between the trees that surrounded Piper as he dashed through the brush. He could feel brambles and twigs grabbing at him, as if they were gnarly fingers, trying to trap him. Panic was filling him as he struggled through the dens

Series Spotlight – The Rise of Aredor & The Wildcat of Braeton

This week I’m doing something different: a series spotlight on two amazing books by author Claire M.Banschbach as part of her relaunch blog tour! In January, Claire had the terrible news that her publisher was going under, so she decided to go indie! Check out her relaunch of her first book (The Rise of Aredor) and the launch of the second book in the series (The Wildcat of Braeton)! Also, scroll down for free stuff!! 😀 The Rise of Aredor Lost in a foreign land and separated

Heroic Fantasy? What is so damn appealing about it anyway? – A post by TS Adrian

We’ve talked a lot about maps and illustrations in our books, and I read this article by TS Adrian about the Shadyia Ascendant series and it rang so true! What do you guys think?? https://shadyiaascendant.com/heroic-fantasy-damn-appealing-anyway/ #writing #author #TSAdrian #ShadyiaAscendant #books #publishing #maps #fantasy

    Finding an Author Community

Something that’s always been difficult for me is finding a community. As most authors are, I’m pretty introverted, and this makes face-to-face interactions difficult sometimes. I get anxiety when I see people that I recognize, and sometimes I’ll go out of my way to not have to talk to them. I’ve always understood that finding a group of other authors to commune with was necessary, but I didn’t realize how connected it would make me feel until I realized that I’d accidentally

    Maps Part 2!

A few weeks ago, I touched on maps for my story. Early in the week, I happened across a post by a member of the Facebook writers’ group I’m in and saw some wonderful maps that another author had been working on. She’d been using GIMP, which I’m not familiar with, but her maps were GoRgEoUs!! So, feeling inspired, I decided to revisit my map of Gexalatia. I actually ended up with way more than what I anticipated when I started! My first step was to find a map generator. I have

    The Surprise!

So this week in my Wednesday News post I mentioned a surprise! And this post is it! I went to Dallas Fan Expo over the weekend and I was struck with an idea. Actually, my fabulous hubs, who knows the deepest little desires of my heart, suggested this idea. Are you dying to know what it is?? I’m making custom armor! And not just any armor, but armor based on characters from the sequel to Return to Royalty! As you guys know by now, I’m a very visual person. I like to have thing

    Well Hello There #Myfirstblogpostrevisited

I was tagged by the amazing Tolkien-fiend E. E. Rawls to participate in a blog hop! It’s my first one ever, so yay! I had to dig way back into the archives, almost seven years ago, to this little guy: Well Hello TherePosted on December 12, 2010 Hi! I have never had a blog before, so this is going to be an adventure for me! I will try to post something fairly regularly, however I cannot guarantee that it will be every day. Mostly look for story tid-bits and excerpts. I’m sure

    Let’s talk about Cover Design.

This week is going to be a little light. I’m writing this on Tuesday night because by the time it hits on Friday I will be heading to a cruise ship! Yay! So instead of a usual post, I’m going to share a video that I did as part of a web series for my publishing company called NOW WHAT? This is part three, but you can find the rest on Facebook and YouTube. Leave a comment on what you think! What’s your experience been with covers? #writing #behindthescenes #advice #YA #books #

    What are ISBNs?

This week I was originally going to talk about character sketches. I had some more crudely-drawn images for you guys! But I joined a few new writing groups on Facebook, and I’m so surprised by what most authors don’t know! So this week we’re going to talk about ISBNs. ISBN and Barcode for Return to Royalty! What is an ISBN? ISBN stands for International Standard Book Number. It is the number on the top of the picture up there. One agency per country is designated to issue ISB

    Infinity Flower Publishing

I am proud to announce today that Infinity Flower Publishing is now offering editorial services! If you’re like me, you’re an author who has big dreams but little money. And that’s okay! I want to make editing and proofreading options affordable for us little guys. So far this year, just on editing alone, I’ve spent more than $500. That’s a lot when your book is still in production! That means right off the bat, to recoup my costs, I have to make that back, and then some. I’m
